Volunteer FAQ

Volunteer FAQ

What are the dates you want volunteers?

We need volunteers everyday from February 17th to 23rd. The work day starts at 8 am, and volunteers are welcome to join in work parties before they leave for their assignments. Arriving around 7 am would be advisable to give you enough time to check in and get assigned to a team.  We ask that everyone checks in to the Command Post which is located at The Boys and Girls Club of Wharton, and does not go directly to work areas. If you arrive later then 8 AM we will have a opportunity to put you you on a afternoon work crew from 1200 PM.

What will the working conditions be like?

The houses we will be working at will have a variety of challenges. There will be a need for some carpentry work, siding and drywall. There will also be a number of yards that need general yard work and some clean up as well as interior and exterior painting.

What are the sleeping conditions and availability?

For volunteers who plan to stay overnight they can choose to pitch a tent or sleep in their vehicles at either the Tee Pee Hotel or The American Legion.

What are the food and water conditions?

Water will be available for all volunteers. Food will be up to the volunteers to supply.

What do I need to do sign up?

To sign up simply fill out the Mission Texas Volunteer Questionnaire and show up at the Boys and Girls Club of Wharton TX at the time you can volunteer.
