Why should I donate to Mission Texas instead of other well know organizations?
Mission Texas is extremely unique in the fact that we are doing this for one reason. We are honoring the memory of a true American Hero, Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient Master Sergeant Mike C. Pena (US Army). After we completed the Valor Walk in 2014 to commemorate President Obama upgrading Master Sergeant Pena’s Distinguished Service Cross   to the Congressional Medal of Honor, we formed connection with Wharton community. Our connection to Wharton is so resilient that after the storm we knew we had to come back to help out in any way we could. On our team will also be John Pena from Hollywood Florida, John is Master Sergeant Pena’s grandson. All money donated, WILL BE USED IN WHARTON TX.

Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes, the payments will be sent to Monty Tech is a public Vocational Technical High School in Massachusetts. Under IRS rules donations to public educational institutions are tax deductible.  (Montachusett Regional Vocational School, Fitchburg, MA)

What am I donating too?
Mission Texas – Operation Restore Hope is a campaign to bring 50 Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (MCJROTC) Cadets and 10 Chaperones Team Leaders, to Wharton TX. Coming from a vocational trade school many of the Cadets and all the Team Leaders have construction backgrounds.  Our mission is to help improve the quality of life of those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

What are the funds being used for?
We will be using the money to help improve living conditions of people whose homes have been affected. We’ll be buying everything from dry wall, plaster, paint, electrical fixtures, framing, to beds, furniture and other house hold items.

What will happen with the donations?
When the donations are closed Erin will send all of the funds directly to Monty Tech for deposit in the schools activity account for Operation Restore Hope.

How long will you continue to raise funds for?
Operation Restore Hope is scheduled to have boots on the ground on February 16 2018. We anticipate having everything in place by that time so we can get right to work. There will be some unexpected monetary needs so; we plan to keep donations coming in until the last day of the operation, February 23 2018.

What is goal you are trying to reach?
Our goal is 75,000 dollars.

If this money is all for the restoration efforts how are the cadets, meals transportation and housing needs taken care of?
The United States Marine Corps JROTC is funding the transportation and meals for cadets. The Boys and Girls Club of Wharton will be housing the cadets. These contributions have allowed us to concentrate on raising funds to help the affected people directly.

Can you help my friend who lives in Wharton?
We would love to! Please keep in mind we will likely be able to work on only 10-15 structures and have almost 10 now.
