John Pena

John is the grandson of Mike C. Pena and in keeping with his families tradition of service to the community will be returning to Wharton as part of Mission Texas. John was part of the original Valor Walk Team and carried his grandfather’s Congressional Medal of Honor the whole 64 miles to present it at his grandfathers place of rest.

John is also a 16 year veteran of the Miami Dade Fire Rescue Department, where he currently serves as a driver/operator at MDFR station 32, certified marine firefighter and a member of the department dive rescue team. John also served 4 years in the United States Marine Corps from July ‘92-July ‘96 in the USMC attained the rank of Corporal. While in the Marines John was a section leader at Marine Barracks Annapolis Maryland, 0352 squad leader camp Schwab Okinawa Japan.
